It’s nearly impossible to make a choice that you know you won’t end up regretting. Outside of marriage, there are very few aspects of our lives that we’re willing to stick with for the long haul. Tattoos continue to be a popular form of self-expression, but they’re not always images that we love for the rest of our lives. And when you start experiencing regret, laser tattoo removal is the right choice.
Why Should I Remove My Tattoo?
If you’re feeling unhappy with your ink, then you already have a worthy reason to pursue tattoo removal. As time goes by and your frustration grows, your tattoo will become more and more of a sticking point, until you feel like the unwanted pigments are defining you.
Once you decide to remove your tattoo, you’ll be taking a step toward clear and natural-looking skin. Post-treatment, you’ll no longer need to cover up inked areas of skin at work or events, and you’ll be all the more confident. You know better than anyone else: if you think that life without your tattoo would be more fulfilling, then you’re right. It’s time to try out a second chance.
Tattoo Removal Methods
Tattoo removal has been an aesthetic treatment for some time, but it transformed when cosmetic lasers entered the industry. Other removal techniques like dermabrasion and excision lead to rampant side effects involving scarring and collateral skin damage. Lasers, on the other hand, are able to selectively targeted ink-pigmented skin, affecting the tattoo and leaving healthy skin untouched.
The advanced tattoo removal lasers available at Aqua Plastic Surgery are appropriate for a variety of ink types, colors, and depths – leaving your skin clearer without harming surrounding tissue.
Factors in Your Tattoo Removal Treatment
The number and type of treatments that will best remove your tattoo depend on a few factors:
- Tattoo type – Whether your tattoo is professionally done, amateur, cosmetic, traumatic, or medical will dictate the number of sessions before you see ideal results.
- Ink color(s) – Certain inks are easier to remove than others, as the laser doesn’t recognize some colors as readily (especially those that are lighter).
- Ink depth – The deeper the ink, the more treatment sessions you will need (the type of tattoo usually determines the depth of ink).
- Size – The size of your tattoo is typically the defining factor in the overall number of treatment sessions.
At your consultation, we will evaluate your tattoo and set up a treatment plan detailing the number and frequency of sessions, so that you know exactly what to expect.
Q-Switched Pico Tattoo Removal Laser
Aqua Plastic Surgery utilizes two tattoo removal lasers to accommodate a variety of ink colors and skin types.
We offer the most innovative tattoo removal using the DeScibe Transparent PFD Patch, the most significant advance in tattoo removal incorporating the “pico” technology for the fastest removal. The FDA-cleared PFD Patch performs several functions simultaneously: it reduces the opaque white bubble layer to allow multiple passes in a treatment session, provides significant optical clearing of tissue, protects the epidermis, and inhibits potentially infectious back-splatter and fumes. In a recent clinical trial, patients reported not only less discomfort, but faster healing post-treatment with the DeScribe Transparent PFD Patch. Using the PFD Patch allows us to treat the R:20 method without the wait.
The R:20 tattoo removal method quickly removes tattoo pigmentation. Each treatment session will consist of 2-4 passes made over the entire tattoo, with a 20-minute rest between each pass. Individual sessions are slightly longer, but the entire process is complete with fewer appointments.
With the Q-switched pico laser, removing a professional tattoo is an average between 6-12 treatment sessions, with 6-8 week healing periods between appointments.
We strive to remove tattoos entirely, but this isn’t always possible. While there still may be small traces of your tattoo remaining, laser removal will significantly lighten and reduce the image.
Tattoo Removal with Enlighten
For patients hoping to remove new or old tattoo’s, or typically troublesome hues like greens, blues, red, purples, or oranges, we recommend the Enlighten. This laser can operate on multiple wavelengths and emit a variety of pulse widths. What does this mean? It fits your tattoo and your skin, no matter the specifics.
Shorter pulse width is a unique aspect, especially when compared to other tattoo removal lasers. The Enlighten’s picosecond setting allows for a different type of reaction within the skin. The photomechanical action produced by picosecond pulses does not produce noticeable heat, leaving surrounding healthy skin untouched and streamlining the treatment process.
The number of sessions necessary with the Enlighten is typically fewer than with the Q-switched laser – which could be 15-20 treatments with older technology. The Enlighten is fewer treatments, usually within a period of 4-8 months.
Our goal is to get your skin tattoo-free, and your life back to normal. To schedule your consultation and learn how many sessions you could expect, simply get in touch.
