Restoring Volume With Belotero
Due to the natural aging process, adults often lose fullness throughout the face, through no fault of their own. When this happens, they often look exhausted, depressed or older than their actual age. Visible signs of facial aging creep up, manifested in wrinkles and fine lines.
Thankfully, Dr. David Rankin, Dr. Dev Vibhakar and Dr. Adam Bauermeister of Aqua Plastic Surgery, leading cosmetic surgeons in Miami and Jupiter, offer Belotero injectable treatment to restore facial volume. Similar to Restylane or Juvéderm, Belotero is a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler treatment designed to restore fullness and elasticity to soft facial tissues, resulting in a rejuvenated facial appearance. A main advantage of Belotero is that is molds to your unique facial contours to provide even correction.
Specifically, Belotero is used to improve the look of vertical lip lines, smile lines, crow’s feet and other aesthetic concerns resulting from a loss of volume and elasticity throughout the soft facial tissues. After Belotero treatment, patients often happily remark that they look years younger!
Am I an Appropriate Belotero Candidate?
Generally speaking, you may be an appropriate candidate for Belotero treatment if you:
- Are a minimum of 21 years old
- Do not have a history of anaphylaxis or several serious allergies
- Are not suffering from multiple severe allergies currently
- Are not currently experiencing an active inflammatory process in the area to be treated
- Are not currently pregnant or breastfeeding
Hyaluronic acid-based fillers are normally biocompatible and thus do not require allergy skin testing prior to treatment. However, let your doctor know if you have any allergies before undergoing Belotero treatment.
What to Expect During Treatment
Thanks to its quick treatment time, you can visit one of our doctors for Belotero treatment on your lunch break or on your way to picking the kids up from school!
Prior to administering Belotero, the doctor looks over your medical history, evaluates the health of your skin and listens to your aesthetic desires. He may use a local anesthetic cream (or injection) before treatment to maximize your comfort. The South Florida Belotero expert will then clean the area with alcohol or another form of antiseptic.
When you are ready to begin your treatment, the doctor will inject Belotero into the desired area(s) before massaging the region to ensure even distribution. Following treatment, the South Florida cosmetic surgeon may apply an icepack to the area to temporarily minimize any discomfort and swelling.
Another advantage of Belotero treatment is that you will notice the effects immediately. The aesthetic results usually last approximately nine months.
What to Expect After Treatment
A minimally invasive treatment, Belotero does not require any downtime. You may experience minor swelling, tenderness, itching or redness in the treatment area, but these symptoms are normal and should improve within a few days.
You can return to work or your usual schedule immediately following treatment. However, you should avoid strenuous activity as well as sun exposure for 24 hours following treatment.
