No allergy test is required before treatment with Restylane®, because the hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is not derived from an animal source. At our South Florida plastic surgery practices, treatment takes about 20 to 30 minutes, during which our doctors use a very fine needle to inject Restylane® into the skin. Although some discomfort may be experienced at the injection site, little or no downtime is involved and results are immediately apparent.

Since hyaluronic acid is a natural substance, Restylane® is gradually broken down and absorbed by the body. So, while the effects of Restylane® are long-lasting, follow-up treatments may be recommended every six months to maintain the desired results.
